Julie Owens is a vital advocate for Downtown Hickory. Since joining the Downtown Development Board in January of 2016, she has served on multiple committees and is currently the President of the Board of Directors. She has worked tirelessly with the board on new ideas to engage and support economic development in the downtown. Her progressive vision has improved communication between the board, its members, the City, and residents, which has been especially important during a downtown revitalization project. Julie also serves on the board for the
Downtown Hickory Farmers Market, and still manages to have time to run a successful coffeehouse with her husband, Scott Owens. Julie is invested in working with the Hickory Downtown Development Association’s mission to create a dynamic destination hub for downtown Hickory, making her a North Carolina Main Street Champion.
